Notebook Visibility and Sharing
print icon

By default, a newly created notebook is private and can only be viewed by the user who created it.
To share a notebook with colleagues, it must be attached to a Project. Permissions are then inherited from that project:

  • Add the notebook to one or more projects
  • Assign collaborators read or write rights inside that project
  • Users will only see the notebook if they have the appropriate permissions in at least one of the associated projects

A notebook can belong to multiple projects at the same time, which enables flexible sharing across research groups, service facilities and collaborations.
This permission model ensures controlled data visibility while offering powerful collaboration options.

Autosave and Collaborative Editing

  • LOGS autosaves changes in the background.
  • An orange Saving indicator signals ongoing autosave.
  • Only one person can edit an entry at a time.
  • If another user opens the same entry, they receive a notification with an option to take over editing (locks the previous editor).
