How is data ownership tracked in LOGS?

Access permissions are managed through LOGS Projects, which datasets are associated with. Each project can have assigned users with specific roles (add/edit or read-only).
Common approaches include:

  • Directory-based project detection: Automatically extract project names from directory paths during upload (e.g., IconNMR setups).
  • IconNMR/TopSpin User login mapping: Use originator login information, ideally consistent across instruments and LOGS.
  • Single Sign-On (SSO): Integrate LOGS with institutional login systems for streamlined account management.
  • Sample-based workflows: Require users to create samples in LOGS before data collection, using unique IDs or barcodes for tracking.

The simplest method for users is to store or copy data into directories named after the project.
